Aircraft Noise Complaints: Collected, Analyzed, Resolved.
The Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) was authorized in December 2003 as part of the Vision 100-Century of Aviation Reauthorization Act. ACRP carries out applied research on problems that are shared by airport operating agencies and are not being adequately addressed by existing federal research programs.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) established the Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP) in 1983 to assist in formulating new policies and adopting new standards on aircraft noise and aircraft engine emissions.
The Joint Planning and Development Office (JPDO) is responsible for planning and coordinating the development of the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen). The JPDO is the central organization that coordinates the specialized efforts of the Departments of Transportation, Defense, Homeland Security, Commerce, FAA, NASA, and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
NoiseQuest is a comprehensive source for information on aviation noise, created by the Partnership for AiR Transporation Noise and Emissions Reduction (PARTNER). PARTNER is an FAA Center of Excellence based at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and its main goal is to improve the relationship between airports and their surrounding communities.
